🌍 From Norway to Cabo Verde: A Transformative Learning Journey in Global Health & Crisis Response

After an unforgettable second semester in Norway, hosted by NTNU Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the first cohort of the Erasmus Mundus Human Response programme continued its remarkable journey— embarking on a dynamic Summer School in Cabo Verde.
We would like to express our gratitude to the entire Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) team, with a special mention to Professors Jennifer J. Infanti and Elin Yli Dvergsdal, whose exceptional coordination and dedication were key to providing students with an extraordinary academic/life experience in Norway.

Between 15 and 26 June, our students were immersed in a new setting, exploring the theme:
“Strengthening Local and International Coordination in Response to (Un-)Natural Disasters, Health Challenges, and Displacement.”
This milestone is particularly significant.
For the first time, higher education institutions in Cabo Verde are full partners in an Erasmus Mundus programme—marking a truly groundbreaking step.
Their contribution has been nothing short of transformative, enriching the programme with invaluable local expertise, perspectives, and lived experiences.

The Summer School was locally organised through the outstanding collaboration of:
Universidade de Cabo Verde (led by Professors Odair Barros Varela, Clementina Furtado, and a special acknowledgment to ex-coordinator Professor Elga Mirta Furtado Barreto de Carvalho) and Universidade de Santiago (led by Professors Nardi Sousa and Marcília Fernandes
This initiative is also powered by a broader ecosystem of professors (local and from the other consortium partners), technical experts, volunteers, and partner organisations across Cabo Verde—demonstrating the strength of collective action in addressing global challenges.
