Ana Teresa Afonso

Specialized nurse, public health professional and experienced humanitarian with over 15 years in global health and holder of a MSc in Public Health, with particular interest in the interseccions of health policy and health seeking-behaviours. Teresa has worked in emergency settings across Sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South America, and the Middle East, leading surge responses and capacity-building initiatives. Her focus has been on reinforcing the localization and promoting knowledge transfer. As Senior Health Advisor for an iNGO, she is responsible for humanitarian health programming strategy design and technical leadership for emergency health responses to sudden-onset disasters, epidemics, and conflict zones.
